Formulating a daily routine for a healthy body and mind is key to reduce stress and anxiety as well as promote your own self-care, too. It’s no secret that creating healthy habits really does start with you but what happens when you need a little boost to help get you there?

The good news is that with a little bit of tweaking of your day, you can achieve awesome mental health benefits that can actually help out in other areas of your life. This means that things that were once hard, like keeping to a schedule or practicing yoga, will start to become a bit easier for you over time.

And that, my friends, has to be music to your ears.

It’s no secret starting your day with a healthy morning routine is one of the biggest ways to create that waterful effect to continue that healthy mental and emotional happiness all day long!

If you’re ready to learn more about why you absolutely need a daily routine for a healthy body and mind, let’s get started. We don’t have any time to lose!

Why a daily routine is important for your overall health

We’ve all heard the saying “mental health matters” time and time again, but it just might be one of the most important things you’ll need to remember. If you’re stressed out constantly, your brain and emotions are going to feel as if they’re in a constant chaotic state.

This isn’t fun for anyone, especially when you feel like you’re living in a “groundhog day moment” over and over again.

Setting a routine is going to be a simple way to reset your overall health and outlook on life

A routine can help reduce stress and anxiety for both body and mind

This is 100% true. With a routine, you’ll find an immediate calmness that gives your brain a break. This means that you’ll literally be able to feel the stress and anxiety melting away from your shoulders and body – and leave you feeling refreshed.

The reason for this? A routine means that there aren’t any unexpected surprises waiting around the corner. And when you know what to expect, there’s less for you to stress or feel anxious over.

The mental health benefits of having a daily routine

Think about how many hours over the past week or month that you spent stressing over things that were out of your control.

Mind-boggling, right?

When you take the time to set up your plan for the day, you’re investing in yourself in a big way. No longer are you going to be that “fly by the seat of your pants” type of person but instead, a person who cherishes their time and understands the need for structure.

Once you set a schedule, you’ll find that you’re more patient, more understanding, and more willing to listen to others than you have been in a very long time. This will help clear your mind and help you open up more, too.

Plus, you may just notice relief when it comes to your mental health.

The physical benefits of keeping to a schedule

It’s really amazing how the body reacts to stress. Some people find that they’re constantly feeling as though they’re in a state of “sickness” and they just don’t know why. Stomachaches, headaches, insomnia…those are all things that happen to people when they’re overly stressed and worried.

This is why setting a schedule matters! Your brain and body deserve so much more. Why let mountains of stress take control of your life?

The moment that you can understand that your stress and worry are actually harming your body, the quicker you need to make change happen.

Why you should add yoga to your daily routine

Adding yoga to your daily life can help you find a happy medium between meditation and movement. Yoga is an amazing way to center yourself and your thoughts while also providing health benefits to your brain and body, too.

Stretching your body and being alone with your thoughts during this time create a beautiful place in your brain and body that promotes a positive energy and vibe. And when you add yoga to your daily schedule, you’re going to see an amazing transformation happen in front of your eyes.

Why you should involve kids in your daily yoga practice

Many people think that yoga is just for adults but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Yoga for kids is the perfect way to teach them at a young age how to treat their bodies and minds with love and care.

When your children see you practicing yoga, they’re going to love being a part of that world, too. Yoga will teach them lifelong lessons about patience, health, and their bodies.

Why you should add mindful meditation to your daily routine for a healthy Body and mind

We all need time during our day to be alone with our thoughts. Instead of looking at this as a negative, it’s time to retrain the way that you think. Mindful meditation can be an amazing tool and resource that you can use to calm your brain and help you really deal with tough times in your life.

Just a few moments of meditation a day will provide you with hours of positive thoughts!

Why you should involve kids in your daily dose of mindfulness

Use meditation as a way to bond. Just because you’re alone with your thoughts doesn’t mean that you have to actually be physically alone! Have your kids join in and work on their meditation as well.

Remember: Mindful meditation can be an amazing resource for children to practice skills as they focus on their own emotional health, too.

How to make a daily routine for yourself

The biggest thing to remember about setting a daily routine is that you need to be true to who you are. Make a routine that you can excel and stick to rather than setting yourself up for failure from the beginning.

As you can see from my example below, you don’t have to crowd your day full of a ton for it to be a success!

My daily self-care routine

This is just an example schedule but gives you a good idea to create your own routine:

  • 6 am: Wake up
  • 6:15: Mindful Meditation
  • 6:30: Yoga
  • 6:45: Shower/Breakfast
  • 8:00: Start workday
  • 11:00: Stretch and short yoga session
  • Noon: Lunch
  • 3:00: Short meditation session
  • 6:00: Dinner
  • 7:30: Stretch/Yoga
  • 10:00: Bedtime

You can vary this up however it works for you but this is a simple way to create a schedule that is easy to follow and stick to!

The bottom line: A daily routine can install healthy habits for better overall body and mind health.
